The organized, highly motivated, and passionate person in this position is responsible

for supporting the transition of families from homelessness to housing. This position's

main function is to assist the work of Family Promise at our shelter locations and

support the case management team.


Knowledge and skills needed for this role include a valid driver’s license, enjoying

working in a fast-paced environment, being detail and goal orientated, having a passion

for mission, prioritizing team over self, and being someone who can work in a diverse

environment.

Our Ideal Candidate will:

  • Responsible for closing and opening the facility on designated days
  • Provide support to families via phone and in-person meetings
  • Provide transportation for families using agency van to and from host sites
  • Document family files and case notes
  • Assist in data entry and program follow up reports
  • Assist and coordinate in-kind donations with families and partner agencies
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with a culturally diverse population
  • Provides support with Family Promise special events as needed
  • Assess inventory of basic need items on-site and restock items as needed
  • Gather and disperse food and clothing donations to families


  • Build and support relationships with donors
  • Support the day to day functions of the IHN GR shelter program with tasks

       such as doing laundry, sorting files, transporting clients, cleaning the day center stocking items, etc.


Work Environment:

  • Executes work in emergency shelters
  • 30 hours/week with the potentials to pick up additional hours
  • Schedule requires 1-2 Sundays/month
  • Lifting of materials of up to 40 pounds may be necessary
  • Ability to work all shifts, as needed to support the operations of the shelter
  • Driving is a requirement of the position, must have a valid driver’s license and

        clean motor vehicle record


Education and Experience Required:

  • High school education or equivalent work experience considered
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Supportive of our organizational mission and of faith-based initiatives and

        programming

  • Volunteer experience with non-profits preferred
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team. Must be

        able to work well with colleagues, board members and volunteers.

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to execute flawlessly on projects in a fast-

        paced, often pressured environment.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Gmail/google drive.


Part time, position.  Reports to the Program Manager. No direct employee supervision.
